1, Temple of Literature: The Temple of Literature was the first university in Vietnam, existing for more than one thousand years as the symbol of the country’s studiousness.

  1. Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex: President Ho Chi Minh – the Greatest Father of Vietnam dedicated his whole life to the survival of the country. Therefore, Ho Chi Minh Complex was built as a commemorative place to show the Vietnamese people’s gratitude toward our Greatest Father.

 3, West Lake & Tran Quoc Pagoda: Situated in Northwestern Hanoi, West Lake is the largest freshwater lake in the capital city. Tran Quoc pagoda, a magnificent pagoda located on the East side of West Lake, is the most ancient pagoda in Hanoi with more than 1,500 years bringing tourists back to the 6th century during the reign of Emperor Ly Nam De Dynasty (544 – 548).

  1. Hoa Lo Prison: Hoa Lo Prison (Central Prison) was considered the most solid prison in Indochina at the time when it was built by the French in 1896. This prison has been a witness to the Vietnamese’s brave fighting spirit.
  2. Hoan Kiem lake: The lake is located in the heart of the city with a story attached as evidence of the one-thousand-year history of Hanoi.
  3. St. Joseph Cathedral (the Big Church): It is one of the first structures built by the French colonial government and follows the Gothic Revival design. The church is a perfectly harmonious combination of Eastern and Western architecture.
  4. Ancient house at No. 87 Ma May street: This is one of the 14 ancient houses in Hanoi built around the end of the 19th century. It follows the traditional “tube house” structure with many layers, typical of the architecture of the houses in the Old Quarter at that time. 
  5. Bach Ma Temple: Regarded as a remarkable historical monument associated with the event of King Ly Thai To’s capital relocation, it stands among the Four Guarding Temples of Thang Long Citadel which were established to form an enclosing boundary of strongholds around the city and deal with potential threats. 
  6. Ta Hien Street (Beer Street): With only 266 m in length, when the city lights up, Ta Hien turns into a crowded and exciting beer street where the locals come to try different kinds of beers, and enjoy fantastic street foods while having fun with their friends. It reflects the lively and hectic beauty of Hanoi’s nightlife.
  7. Dong Xuan Market: This more than 100-year-old market is the oldest and largest indoor market in Hanoi, and has always been a familiar place for traders from all over the country. It sells everything from souvenirs, clothes, and household goods to foodstuffs.
  8. Long Bien Bridge: Long Bien Bridge is an iconic sign of the Hanoian people’s determination and perseverance. Completed in 1902, the bridge was one of the four greatest bridges in the world at that time. After more than 100 years of decades of war, the Bridge was bombarded many times by air attacks from the American army in 1967, and 1972. The left spans still remaining today remind us of an unforgettable past.
  9. The Opera House: The idea of the Hanoi Opera House originated from the Garnier Opera House in Paris in 1901, which represents the first exposure of Hanoi to the world of Western art, music, and staging.
  10. Vietnam National Museum of History: Established in 2011, the VNMH preserves and showcases the long-running Vietnamese history and culture throughout the ancient periods fast forward to the present time.
